Yes!! Everyone likes grammar lesson!!!
今日は、日本語で「~がほしい!」「~がしたい!」の言い方をみんなで学びます。
*欲しい(ほしい)[v] to want
In this lesson, We'll learn how to say ''I want to do something'' and ''I want something''.
You wanna learn it, don't you? You already know it?
学びたいよね? もう知ってる?(´・ω・)
Anyway, It's quite useful phrase so let's practice together. :)
・I want [noun]. ~がほしいです。
It's quite simple how to say ''I want something''.
Just add がほしいです after noun.
わたしは、[noun] が ほしいです。
e.g.
わたしは、車がほしいです。
時間がほしいです。
かわいいネコがほしいです。
It's easy, isn't it?
However when you ask someone whether want something or not
ほしいですか? is not polite enough.
Just like ''Do you want?''
If you ask someone who you're not familiar with or your boss you should say ''would you like?'', right?
It's the same as Japanese.
The way to say ''would you like?'' in Japanese is いかがですか?.
e.g.
チョコレートはいかがですか? (Would you like some chocolate?)
コーヒーはいかがですか? (Would you like a cup of coffee?)
*I didn't mean, You MUST say いかがですか?.
Just remember there is the way to say ''would you like?'' in Japanese. :)
Let's do some exercises :)
時計(とけい)[n] watch
車(くるま)[n] car
鞄(かばん)[n] bag
辞書(じしょ)[n] dictionary
財布(さいふ)[n] wallet
・何がほしいですか? What do you want?
わたしは、_________が_________です。
・I want to [verb]. ~がしたいです。
It's a little bit difficult to say ''I want to [verb]''.
Because you need to cojugate verbs.
But it's the same way as present tense.
If you don't know it yet please check Here!.
How to conjugate ru-verb is just drop 「る」(ru) from the end of infinitive and add 「たいです」.
As for example,
「見る」MI
「寝る」NE
However, there're also some irregular verb as same as present form.
As for example, 「走る」HASHIRU is ended in IRU sound which is supposed to be ru-verb.
However, 「走る」connects to 「たいです」replacing 'u' with 'i'.
Hashir '
「帰る」KAERU is also an irregular verb.
Kaer '
There're only few irregular verbs which you should know.
I listed them below.
・入る(はいる)[v] to enter, come in
・走る(はしる)[v] to run
・帰る(かえる)[v] to go back
・切る(きる)[v] to cut
・知る(しる)[v] to know
What 'bout u-verb is easy.
Just drop 'u' sound from end of infinitive and add 'i' + 「たいです」the same as irregular ru-verb.
「泳ぐ」OYOGU
Oyog '
「話す」HANASU
Hanas '
「飲む」NOMU
NOM '
「買う」KAU
Ka '
・I want to [do] something. ~したいです。
First of all, some nouns can be used as verb with do.
For example,
勉強(noun) + する(do) =勉強する(to study)
運動(noun) + する(do) =運動する(to do one's exercise)
How to conjugate these pattern is just replace する with したい.
わたしは、勉強したいです。(I want to study.)
わたしは、運動したいです。(I want to do my exercise.)
*Here is a tip.
If you insert が between noun and したい you can emphasise 'want to [do it]'.
For exapmple,
I want to 'study'. わたしは、勉強がしたいです。
・I want to [be] something. ~になりたい。
If you wanna say 'I wanna be a pilot' you can say 'わたしは、パイロットになりたいです。.
[Be noun] is quite simple.
Just add になりたい after noun.
Even if you wanna be an airplane you can say 'わたしは、飛行機になりたいです。like this. XD
However, [Be adjective] is a little bit complicated.
Do you remember na-adjective and i-adjective?
If you need to revise it plz check Here! .
