Let's learn basic Kanji #29 level 3

Hello guys!
How's your Kanji goin'?
I know it bothers you.
But if you know at least basic Kanji you can enjoy more Japanese culture. :)
Just try to write each Kanji 2 or 3 times. It's enough.
Better than nothing. (/・ω・)/
 By the way, Meaning is a mere example. When Kanji is used with other Kanji together that meaning is also changed.
For example, 花 means flower, 火 means fire. However 花火 means fireworks.

港　音: ・コウ　　　　　　　　　訓:・みなと
                Meaning: 'port''harbor'

Example sentence:船長は港に船をとめた。/Senchou wa minato ni hune wo tometa.
                                 (The captain anchored the ship at the port.)
*船長(せんちょう)[n] captain
  船(ふね)[n] ship, boat



号　音: ・ゴウ　　　　　　　　　
                Meaning: 'number'

Example sentence:ロボット１号、２号、３号。/Robot ichi gou ni gou san gou.
                                 (Robot Number1, Number2, Number3.)
*ロボット(ろぼっと)[n] robot
  番号(ばんごう)[n] number


根　音: ・コン　　　　　　　　　訓:・ね
                Meaning: 'root'

Example sentence:屋根にのぼってはいけません。/Yane ni nobotte wa ikemasen.
                                 (You must not go up to the roof.)
*屋根(やね)[n] roof
  根菜(こんさい)[n] root vegetables
  球根(きゅうこん)[n] bulb


祭　音: ・サイ　　　　　　　　　訓:・まつ(る)・まつり
                Meaning: 'festival''carnival'

Example sentence:私の学校は明日、文化祭を開催します。/Watashi no gakkou wa ashita bunka sai wo kaisai simasu.
                                 (My school is holding school festival tomorrow.)
*文化祭(ぶんかさい)/学園祭(がくえんさい)[n] school festival
  開催する(かいさいする)[v] to hold, to organise, to host (event)


皿　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　訓:・さら
                Meaning: 'plate''dish'

Example sentence:思いがけず、お皿を割ってしまった。/Omoigakezu osara wo watte simatta.
                                 (Unexpectedly, I broke the plate.)
*思いがけず(おもいがけず)[adv] unexpectedly, surprisingly
  割る(わる)[v] to divide, to brake


仕　音: ・シ・ジ　　　　　　　　　訓:・つか(える)・つかまつ(る)
                Meaning: 'serve'

Example sentence:私の家では、お皿を洗うのは父の仕事です。/Watashi no ie dewa, osara wo arau nowa chichi no shigoto desu.
                                 (In my house, washing dishes is my father's job.)
*仕事(しごと)[n] job, work


死　音: ・シ　　　　　　　　　訓:・し(ぬ)
                Meaning: 'die''dead'

Example sentence:死ぬ準備はできています。/Shinu junbi wa dekite imasu.
                                 (I'm ready to die.)
*死ぬ(しぬ)[v] to die
  準備は/ができている(じゅんびはできている)[v] to be ready


使　音: ・シ　　　　　　　　　訓:・つか(い)・つか(う)
                Meaning: 'use'

Example sentence:これの使い方を教えてください。/Kore no tukaikata wo osiete kudasai.
                                 (Please tell me how to use this.)
*使い方(つかいかた)[n] how to use, the way to use
 

始　音: ・シ　　　　　　　　　訓:・はじ(まる)・はじ(める)・はじ(め)
                Meaning: 'start''begin'

Example sentence:それでは始めましょう！/Soredewa hajime mashou.
                                 (Let's get started!)
*始める(はじめる)[v] to start, to begin
  始発電車(しはつでんしゃ)[n] the first train
  開始(かいし)[n] start
  原始人(げんしじん)[n] primitive man


指　音: ・シ　　　　　　　　　訓:・さ(す)・ゆび
                Meaning: 'finger''to point'

 Example sentence:包丁で指を切らないでね。/Houchou de yubi wo kiranai dene.
                                 (Do not cut your finger with the kitchen knife.)
*包丁(ほうちょう)[n] kitchen knife
  親指(おやゆび)[n] thumb
  人差し指(ひとさしゆび)[n] pointer finger, index finger, first finger, forefinger
  中指(なかゆび)[n] middle finger, second finger, long finger
  薬指(くすりゆび)[n] ring finger, third finger
  小指 (こゆび)[n] little finger, pinky, pinkie, forth finger
