#Practice トイレはどこですか?

Hi guys!
Today, in this lesson you'll learn how to ask someone "Where is ------?" in Japanese.
You already know an interrogative sentence in Japanese, right?
Well, basically just add か? to the end of sentence. Basically! XD

Anyway, you'll need to ask someone when you come to Japan.
You'll be like "WHERE AM I????". Don't get lost in Japan. haha

Let's get started!!

みなさん こんにちは!
今日、このレッスンでは ''ここはどこですか?''と 人に聞くときの勉強をします。
もう 日本語でのしつもんの しかたは 分かりますよね?
基本的には か? を文の終わりに つけるだけです!

日本に来た時 道に迷わないように しっかり勉強しましょう!

では、始めましょう!(/・ω・)/

1. ここは 東京 です。 (Here is Tokyo.)

ここ[n] here
東京(とうきょう) [n] Tokyo prefecture

First of all, let's learn "Here is (the name of Place)".
Just replace (the name of Place) tho. haha

let me give you some vocabularies.

東京(とうきょう)[n] Tokyo prefecture

渋谷駅(しぶやえき)[n] Shibuya Station

大学(だいがく)[n] university, college

ここは とうきょう   です。(Here is Tokyo.)

ここは しぶやえき   です。(Here is Shibuya Station.)

ここは ----だいがく です。 (Here is the university of ----.)

See? It's easy, isn't it??

So now you are able to answer "Where is here? (Where am I/Where are we?)".

And when you're not sure where you are you can ask someone like "ここは とうきょう ですか?"(Is here Tokyo?).
And the answer will be "はい、そうです"means Yes or "いいえ、ちがいます"means No.

2.トイレ は どこですか? (Where is the toilet?)

Let's learn today's main topic "Where is (the name of Place)?".
But let me say this again. Just replace (the name of Place) tho. XD
So you already know how to ask it, don't you? haha

By the way, how do you call "Toilet"? I mean, bathroom, restroom, and loo etc.
In Japanese, there are some words for Toilet as well.
トイレ, お手洗い(おてあらい), 便所(べんじょ) etc.
お手洗い is polite and formal way to say Toilet.
And In Japan, some signs for Toilet say "WC". WC is an acronym for Water Closet.
Do you usually use Water Closet???

Anyway, let's practice!!

トイレ(といれ)[n] toilet

教室(きょうしつ)[n] classroom

会議室(かいぎしつ)[n] meeting room, conference room

事務所(じむしょ)[n] office

トイレ は どこですか?(Where is the toilet?)

教室 は どこですか?(Where is the classroom?)

会議室 は どこですか?(Where is the meeting room?)

事務所 は どこですか?(Where is the office?)

How easy today's lesson is!!!
Just expand your vocablary and replace them the phrases above.
Easy peasy :)
Well, you'll be asked where the place is, of course.
Let's learn it next :)

3.トイレ は あそこです。(The toilet is over there.)

It might confuse you but when you point somewhere you can say "ここ", "そこ" or "あそこ".
It depends on how far that point is from you.

Look at the picture above.

*left
トイレは ここ です。(The toilet is here.)

*right
トイレは そこ です。(The toilet is there.)

*top
トイレは あそこ です。(The toilet is over there.)

Something like this. haha
You got it??

And other things,
The way to count floor in a building differ from country to country.
Look at the picture below.

Japan is middle one on this picture.
1階(いっかい) can be translated as First floor so I can say it's the same way to count as American one.

How to read is,

1階 いっかい
2階 にかい
3階 さんかい
4階 よんかい
5階 ごかい
6階 ろっかい
7階 ななかい
8階 はちかい
9階 きゅうかい
10階 じゅっかい
11階 じゅういちかい

Well, let's practice a lil bit.

レストラン(れすとらん)[n] restaurant

服屋(ふくや)[n] clothing store

靴屋(くつや)[n] shoe store

映画館(えいがかん)[n] movie theater, cinema

本屋(ほんや)[n] book store

電気屋(でんきや)[n] electronics store

レストランは 6階 です。(The restaurant is on the 6th floor.)

服屋は 3階 です。(The clothing store is on the 3rd floor.)

靴屋は 2階 です。(The shoe store is on the 2nd floor.)

Now you can ask where the place is, you can say here is the place, and where the place is.
Well done!!
Let's check what you learnt today!
